Two scientists – and sort-of-former Republicans – are our featured guests on the Freethought Fridays and Variety Show. They, like many of us who used to be supporters of the GOP, find the anti-science “biblical worldview” espoused by many Republicans these days to be disturbing at best.
James C. Glass is a retired physics and astronomy professor who now writes science fiction. Before becoming a full-time author, his 35-year career included work as a professor of physics, department head and dean at North Dakota State University and Eastern Washington University. After writing 75 technical papers on his research in molecular bio-physics and superconductivity, he branched out into fiction writing and won the 1990 grand prize in the Writers of the Future Contest. He has published over 60 stories in anthologies and magazines, as well as four story collections and eight novels. His latest work is called Branegate, which is available on Amazon. Branegate is a sci-fi thriller – involving the separation of church and state. (Related interest: Jim’s letter to the Republican National Committee.)
Gary Ehlenberger is a retired Staff Scientist and Member of the Technical Staff with Motorola. He studied Mathematics at Arizona State University.
Topics include Glass’ writings, and then we’ll delve into education, politics and some cool stuff – like the Higgs boson and what it means as well as theories about the multiverse and more.
The show will begin with our usual news segment, where one of the “X-Women” — Colleen also known as Sautez – will have a special Scientology-related announcement.
UPDATE — With the first anniversary of “the least credible history book in print,” we’re pleased to announce that Chris Rodda will be joining us to talk about her new giveaway and a critique of David Barton’s The Jefferson Lies. We don’t know for sure when she will be on, given the length of our science discussion, but suspect it will be either 2.5 hours into the show or the top of the third hour.
