Nestled in the Ozark Mountains about 20 miles from Branson, Missouri is the new home of Jim Bakker. Back in the 1980s, he played a leading role promoting the prosperity gospel that, Eye on the Paranormal host Kirby Robinson wryly explains, is a “gospel” meaning, “If you’re rich, God loves you. But if you’re poor it’s your own fault.”
From Heritage USA to the peacefully named Morningside, Jim’s new ministry no longer focuses on getting rich. He has embraced a new gospel consisting of:
Kirby says that if this new gospel consisted of the above four subjects, he could look past it. “However, if you take the time to peel back the layers of deceptions, you uncover something very shocking,” Robinson alleges. “Bakker’s teaching Dominion or Kingdom Now gospel. This means that Christians have the right, if not the responsibility, to run every aspect of government, culture, science, and religion.”
Kirby will reveal that the false prophet industry is on the rise. “Just as many Americans have gone new age and psychic crazy, numerous charismatic churches promote the prophet business. The church no longer tests you but gives you every opportunity to cash in—write a book, co-star on Jim’s show, and so on,” he says, adding that according to Bakker’s End Times, doom and gloom teachings, “Blood will gush down the streets, cities will burn, and there will be no food on the shelves, no power, and no water. But don’t worry! If you fork over the money, Bakker will send you enough food to last for 20 years! He’ll sell you a generator. And even better than that, he claims he’s working on a water making device!”
The next two Eye on the Paranormal shows will look into the world of Jim Bakker and the Dominion/Kingdom Now gospel. Kirby will explain the difference between a prophet and a psychic, and look at what he characterizes as “the false prophets” that Jim Bakker promotes to the world via his show, such as John Kilpatrick, Cindy and Mike Jacobs, Bishop Ron Webb, Rick Joyner, Jonathan Cahn, Nathan Morris and several others.
As a weekly feature, Kirby will also share some book reviews and recommendations, as well as his infamous “BAD BAD Thing Awards.”
A Christian paranormal investigator, demonologist and exorcist, Kirby manages and writes at the Eye on the Paranormal blog where a wealth of articles about the paranormal have been published for the past five years. His program on the God Discussion network airs weekly.
